Mzansi Teamwork with Greenpop

From the plastic bottle on the beach to the planted tree: Our ECO Shopper Bags are sustainable shopping bags deluxe.

Mzansi Trading plants trees in Africa.

Because we want to play our part and contribute to making our planet a bit greener and more livable.  Since July 1, 2022, we are part of Greenpop and donate a tree with the purchase of every 20th ECO Shopper Bag.

We are proud of this partnership, with which we continue to manifest our credo of actively supporting environmental protection, recycling, and sustainability projects.

Greenpop is working on the restoration of ecosystems in various African countries. These include projects to strengthen environmental protection through forest restoration, urban gardening, and food nurseries.   Since its creation in 2010, the non-profit organization has planted over 17,7,000 trees in South Africa, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania.

Greenpop is doing more than just planting trees. Greenpop is campaigning for more environmental protection in Africa. They attract attention with their projects to raise more environmental awareness. To this end, Greenpop organizes festivals, workshops, and builds communities with a positive impact.

Our tree-planting partnership with Greenpop enables us to contribute directly within our supply chain in terms of sales, but also to support other regions of Africa with our project.

In southern Africa, there are large areas of barren, arid soils. Greenpop’s tree planting projects are re-greening these areas. Functioning ecosystems not only produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide – trees provide a home for animals, enrich groundwater and prevent erosion. And living in a green neighborhood relieves stress and helps fight disease.

Mzansi Trading turns bottles into bags.

We use the most sustainable raw materials possible in the production of our collections. Our ECO Shopper series is made 100% from PET bottles collected on Cape Town’s beaches  in South Africa. The collection campaigns will reduce the amount of plastic that would otherwise end up in the sea. The recycled plastic gets a new purpose. This means that no new raw material has to be used for production. The bag itself can be completely recycled after repeated use and fed into a new production cycle.

We create our collections with unique designs by African artists. This makes them not only practical and environmentally friendly, but above all artistic and chic. Our permanent bags are wearable and practical art. Constantly changing designs make the selection always interesting and fresh, this way we can present our customers with the latest styles and designs. We trigger the curiosity of our customers for next designs and the artist stories behind. We let them become part of our journey through Africa.

Mzansi Trading connects cultures.

We value our partnerships and maintain a very close relationship with our long-established manufacturers.  It is important to us that we can trace our supply chain flawlessly from start to finish. We know where our materials come from and who produces our products.   Together with artists and manufacturers, we work on product developments and implement new concepts.  This way we can respond directly to the demands and needs of European and international consumers.

With this cross-border and cross-cultural bridge, we aim to bring dreams and reality closer together: Our customers take a piece of (sustainable) Africa home. They can feel and experience a sense of exoticism and extravagance. Our artists and manufacturers and artists get exposure through their art on a global platform. They can gain financial independence and have a positive impact within their local communities.

Preserving and rebuilding the natural ecosystem is a sign of hope. It symbolizes faith in the future, respectful cooperation and respect for our planet. It brings people and cultures together – and that’s exactly our goal, because:

Mzansi Trading: We connect cultures.

With our project “Bags made of bottles”, we assume three responsibilities in terms of environmental and resource protection.

  1. Our recycled ECO Shopper Bags are made from 100% PET bottles collected on Cape Town’s beaches. This frees the beaches from plastic waste and counteracts the pollution of the oceans.
  2. Our recycled ECO Shopper Bags are produced in a resource-saving manner. Compared to conventional production, no new raw materials are used for production, CO2 emissions and water consumption are significantly reduced, and fossil fuels are saved.
  3. Our recycled ECO Shopper Bags plant trees. With the sale we support environmental projects and plant a tree in Africa with Greenpop for 20 ECO Shoppers sold.
